OUR STORY
The story of Özka is one of determination, vision, and growth. It began in 1976, when our founder, Hamit Şavluğ, embarked on his journey from Malatya in pursuit of new opportunities. What started as a small 50 m² workplace dedicated to product sales soon evolved into the foundations of a company built on trust and quality.
The official establishment of Özka marked the beginning of a journey built on dedication, quality, and trust.
In 1979, Hamit Şavluğ—a master craftsman with experience across various fields—laid the groundwork for what would soon become a respected name in the bakery industry. By 1980, he had officially launched his commercial journey at a production facility in Mersin, which would go on to serve customers across Turkey and abroad for many years.
During the early 1980s, Özka quickly rose to prominence as one of the leading bakery producers, recognized for its commitment to cleanliness, product quality, and exceptional taste. The company began distributing its products to numerous regions throughout Turkey, while also fulfilling the growing demand for ready-made desserts from official institutions.
Among the many prestigious clients Özka proudly served were the Mersin Mediterranean Regional Command, İskenderun 19th Infantry Brigade, İslahiye 19th Infantry Brigade, Adana Köprüköy Military Brigade, and the Gaziantep Armored Brigade, as well as other military units and state institutions. Through successfully securing and fulfilling tenders, Özka established a reputation for reliable service and uncompromising quality.
With a commitment to excellence, Özka expanded its operations and strengthened its presence in the sector.
By 1989, following extensive market research conducted by Özka’s management team, the company expanded its operations to the Erdemli district of Mersin, introducing flatbread (yufka) production with the goal of making Özka synonymous with quality in this traditional product. This initiative proved highly successful and strengthened the brand’s reputation.
Starting in 1990, Özka identified regional gaps in the sector and shifted its focus towards the production of kadayıf, a move that rapidly expanded its customer portfolio. This growth created the need to diversify the product range while maintaining the company’s uncompromising standards of quality.
To meet increasing demand, Özka invested in modern machinery and optimized its production facilities, paving the way for the introduction of a variety of new products, including Kemalpaşa Dessert, Şekerpare, Güllaç, Mantı, and different types of Erişte (traditional noodles).
With its unmatched quality and distinctive taste, Özka continued to strengthen its position throughout the 1990s, carrying its well-earned reputation to new heights in the food industry.
Stepping beyond national borders, Özka entered international markets, carrying its expertise and values to the global stage.
In 2010, Özka took an important step towards international growth by expanding into Northern Iraq. To meet the region’s strong demand and facilitate reliable product supply, a specialized kadayıf production facility was established.
Today, Özka operates in a 2,000 m² indoor facility, employing an average of 50 staff members annually, and successfully delivers its products to every province in Turkey as well as to international markets, including Germany, Iraq, Dubai, and numerous European countries.
In line with our mission and vision, and to ensure the sustainability of our quality principles, Özka laid the foundations of a new 4,000 m² production facility in 2016, located in the Organized Industrial Zone of Ereğli, Konya. This investment represents our commitment to continuous growth, innovation, and excellence in serving both domestic and international customers.
